Let’s Feed Brum Trustees Make a Big Impression at JW Hinks

03/05/2022

Last month, we introduced you to the charity we’re partnering with for the coming year, Let’s Feed Brum. Since then, the charity’s trustees have visited JW Hinks’ offices to explain the work they do in the community to our staff in greater depth. All we can say is: we’re very impressed!

As a result, we wanted to write a follow up piece from last month that gives a little more detail about the charity and how we plan to support it over the next twelve months. We also want to explain how you can get involved with JW Hinks and Let’s Feed Brum too, and help to make positive changes in the community.

At its most basic, Let’s Feed Brum is a Birmingham-based charity that works to provide meals for the homeless and vulnerable. Every day, the charity partners with a different local restaurant who prepares up to 80 meals. These are then distributed by Let’s Feed Brum – usually in teams of three to four volunteers – to people in need. The charity also runs breakfast drives on Tuesdays and Thursdays, once more providing food for those in need.

However, Let’s Feed Brum is about more than just providing meals; it also helps people who are dealing with substance abuse or mental health problems. The charity can help set people up with job interviews, dress them appropriately, provide them with clothes and sleeping bags, and more. Last year alone, Let’s Feed Brum contributed 5,000 sleeping bags to the homeless, giving them important protection against the elements.

By working to address the needs of the whole person, Let’s Feed Brum strives to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. It is about feeding people, but it’s also about more than that. It’s about helping them however they need it. To that end, Let’s Feed Brum also works alongside its sister charity, Standing Tall, which works with businesses to create job opportunities for people “going through tough times”.

Whether you want to support the charity through donations, volunteering your time, or simply spreading the word, Let’s Feed Brum is doing amazing work to help those who are struggling. You can get in touch with them on their website.

At JW Hinks, we will continue to support the charity however we can. On Sunday 1 May, a team of JW Hinks employees took part in the Great Birmingham Run 10k, and we were very pleased to more-than double our sponsorship target (all of which went to Let’s Feed Brum). On 7 June, we’ll be getting involved again, as Kirsty, Fiona, and Emma join one of the Let’s Feed Brum breakfast teams as support.

We are always looking for new ways we can help support our chosen charity, and we are also eager to help people engage with good causes. Whether that’s giving time by taking part, or money by sponsoring others, we’re always happy to see people get involved. If you would like to learn more about JW Hinks’ work to support the community, or suggest any further ways we can work with Let’s Feed Brum, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us on 0121 456 0190.
