Bookkeeper

Salary: Dependent on experience Location: Edgbaston Birmingham / Flexible working

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team and support the smooth operation of our accounting processes. Proficiency in Xero is essential for this role. The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, and capable of working independently to support our financial operations. A knowledge of Hubdoc and Dext would be desirable.

The Role:

  • Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across different industries.
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditure, and payroll where applicable.
  • Process sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements.
  • Produce management accounts and financial reports for clients.
  • Provide advice and guidance to clients on bookkeeping systems and processes.
  • Support clients in the use of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Liaise with clients regularly to answer queries and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of services across the firm.
  • Support the wider finance and accounts team with ad-hoc tasks and projects.

To be considered, you will need:

• Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and MS Excel..
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with payroll systems and tax compliance.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. It is essential that you are confident in dealing with colleagues, third parties and can work with total discretion.
