Shaping the future of JW Hinks: A conversation with Managing Partner Dan Morgan

10/06/2025

We’re delighted to congratulate Dan Morgan on his appointment as Managing Partner of JW Hinks. With 26 years at the firm, Dan steps into the position with a deep understanding of our culture, our clients, and our team. As he readily admits, some big shoes to fill.

He follows in the footsteps of respected leaders who have helped shape JW Hinks into the firm it is today. Dan is stepping into Neal Aston’s position, continuing the legacy of strong leadership, while Neal remains actively involved with the firm as a Partner. Bringing his people-focused vision to the role, Dan aims to blend tradition with innovation, preparing the business for a strong and sustainable future.

We sat down with Dan to reflect on his leadership journey so far and to hear what’s next for JW Hinks.

Why did you take on the role of Managing Partner?

It felt like the right time to step up. I’ve been with the firm a long time and care deeply about where we’re heading. We’ve got a great team and a strong foundation, and I saw the opportunity to help shape what comes next. For me, it’s all about people. This role gives me the chance to support and develop our team, help others grow in confidence, and build a strong future for the firm together. That people-focused side of the role is what drew me in.

What’s your vision for the firm over the next few years?

My passion for development stems from my journey. I joined JW Hinks 26 years ago in a junior role, and I’ve been fortunate to grow with the firm. I want to make sure this is a place where people can build their careers, take ownership of their futures, and know they’re supported in doing so. We’re building an ambitious, future-ready team with people who aspire to take on leadership roles and drive the firm forward. At the same time, it’s important to protect our friendly, family-oriented culture while continuing to deliver exceptional service to every client.

You’ve been with the firm a long time. How has that shaped your leadership style?

I think it’s made me quite grounded. I understand the pace, the pressure points, and what matters to people here, and that helps me lead in a way that’s steady and fair. I’m a big believer in listening, being approachable, and giving people space to do what they’re good at. I try not to overcomplicate things.

How is JW Hinks evolving to meet the needs of tomorrow’s clients?

Clients expect more these days – not just technical answers, but insight, responsiveness, and a real sense of partnership. We’re evolving to meet that by embracing technology to improve quality, efficiency and service. But it’s not just about systems, it’s about how we think and work. We’re helping our people think more commercially, investing in new talent and ideas, and adapting to the way people work now. That balance of innovation and tradition will be key to staying relevant and genuinely useful in a fast-changing world.

What are your priorities in the short and long term?

In the short term, it’s about listening, understanding where we are now, and making sure we’re supporting our people and clients as well as we can. I want to create space for open conversations – with the team and with clients, to help shape what comes next. In the long term, it’s about building a firm that’s fit for the future: growing sustainably, making smart use of technology, and creating a culture where people feel valued, supported, and proud to be part of what we’re doing.

And finally, how do you recharge outside the office?

I’m an early riser, so I like to start the day with a walk in the woods with our Labrador. It sets me up before things get busy. I also enjoy spending time with my family, especially watching the kids play football and tennis.

Looking ahead

Under Dan’s leadership, JW Hinks remains focused on what matters: delivering exceptional service, investing in people, and helping clients thrive through every stage of their journey.
